Visit Malta – A Piece of Heaven in Southern Europe

In southern Italy, 80 kilometers from Sicily, a very small but beautiful country is situated. Undoubtedly, this country is one of the most inspired choices that you can make for your next vacation. Although it covers an area of only 316 km square, Malta has a population of approximately 450,000 inhabitants and is one of the countries with the highest population density in the world. The largest cities in the country are Birkirkara, Qormi, Mosta, Zabbar and Saint Paul’s Bay. Valletta, the capital, is not even in top ten cities in terms of population, with a population of approximately 7,000 people.

Although is a small country, Malta abounds in tourist attractions, of which nine were included in UNESCO World Heritage. These are historic city Valletta (the capital), Hal Saflieni hypogeum and not less than seven prehistoric temples. Of course, these are not the only things worth seeing. Cathedrals in Malta have a great beauty, museums are very interesting and beaches are downright amazing.

Malta’s capital is a city that will win you over instantly. It has a bohemian air, the result of combining historic buildings with its positioning on the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll want to spend your time walking, discovering its narrow streets and exploring its amazing buildings. Here in Valletta you will fing Cathedral of St. John, a place where you can admire the biggest painting of Michelangelo, Merisi da Caravaggio. You can also visit the National Museum of Art, and one of the oldest functional theaters in Europe, Manoel Theatre.

Hal Saflieni hypogeum is a monument located in town of Paola and is an underground building dating back for more than 5,000 years. Initially, it was built to be used as a sanctuary, but was later turned into a cemetery. If you want to visit this hypogeous, my recommendation is to make your reservation in advance, because the number of tourists allowed to enter is limited to 60 per day.

What is even more impressive about Malta is that, besides the fact that it has all these attractions is also one of the best destinations in the world for those who want to enjoy the beach. The climate is perfect, so all you have to do is find a beach you like. The most popular among tourists are those of Mellieha Golden Bay or Saint Thomas Bay, but you will notice that every beach in Malta has its own charm.

Let`s see some photos with this amazing and unique country. Plan your next vacation to Malta!
